Rainer Linz "Two Pieces for Radio" CD - The Opera "Crossed Purposes" uses a range of media-related devices, including a radio 'format' (in place of an opera 'form') and the use of an announcer. In The Rehearsal , three (fictional) cellists rehearse for a radio concert which is to be broadcast simultaneously from different parts of the world. The process of creating for radio is the starting point for this piece, as producers' and engineers' voices are heard and the sound of tape machines, microphones, tuning and studio atmosphere provide a quasi-documentary basis for the piece. - For trade only
